Born With No Hands, Paints With Her Feet

Anjana Malik,27-year-old deftly draw a painting of Ganesha while wielding a pen with her toes, eyes screwed up in concentration, is a mesmerising sight. Till a few years ago, the daughter of a contractual labourer who was born with no hands and a deformed back and legs was forced to beg on the streets of Rishikesh.

A year ago, Anjana was spotted by Joyce, who is a yoga teacher in Virginia, USA. Joyce had paid a visit to India when she saw Anjana scribbling “Ram” with her feet.

Joyce approached her and decided to provide her with water colours as she was amused seeing Anjana writing with her toes.
