Gotra and its impact in Hindu Society

The meaning of Gotra is the line making of same family. The main theme of Gotra is to connect the relation with same type of people from ancient time. For example, if a person is following ‘Bhardhoj Gotra’, it means the ancestors of that person starts from ‘Bhardhoj Rishi’.

You are known about the relation with same Gotra and people cannot get marriage with same Gotra. Why these type of problems occurs in Hindu religion? Bishwamitra, Jamadgni, Bhardwoj, Gautam, Atri, Basishta and Kashyap are know as the seven Rishis according to Hindu community. In marraige ceremony, Gotra plays an important and serious role. If a ladies is from same Gotra with boy, even they are in love relationship, marriage cannot success.

At the time of fixing marraige, Gotra is most necessary and essential with Prawar. According to Matshya Puran, it will be difficult to establish a good relation and happy life if same a boy and a girl married with each other from same Gotra. If same Gotra people marriage with each other, their religion will finish and they cannot be treated as good people.
