Thai conjoined twins do not want to be separated

Sisters in Thailand were born connected at the waist but have their own heads, torsos, and arms. They are now 7 years old. The sisters share a pair of leg. Pin has control of one and Pan has control of the other. They have now have learned to walk, dress, eat and even ride a tricycle as one. The twins live in Nakhon Sawan with their grand parents.

It is about 250 km north of Bangkok. The grand parents describe that they are normal happy children. The grandmother Noknoi Pongchumnan said, ‘They love singing, eating ice cream, helping each other with dressing up and giggling together.’ Pin and Pan have mastered the art of walking. They walk like a crab with their hands and feet. They are even to climb two steps of stair with out any help. They usually ride a tricycle for long distance and their teacher helps them to move from one building to another on a wheel chair in school. They attend Nakhonsawanpunyanukul Special School for disadvantaged children and there they are popular among both staffs and students. One of their teachers said, ‘The other pupils thought Pin and Pan were different at first. In the classroom, they were asking, “Why do two people have one body”? They wanted to get a closer look.

But after they spent time together, they realized Pin and Pan are the same as any other children, and now they all play together.’ The teacher and the grand parents are hoping that education will give them the skills to live an independent life in the future.
